April 2021 – La Bastide, located in the heart of one of France’s most beautiful villages overlooking the Luberon valley, is delighted to be opening its doors for the 2021 summer season on 12th May 2021.
As with every Airelles property, families are given the warmest of welcomes at La Bastide with its vibrant Kingdom of Children, dedicated child-friendly swimming pool and family initiatives to excite all ages.
This summer families can look forward to spending some much-needed quality time together enjoying some of the multigenerational experiences on offer at La Bastide which include:
Family Zen at La Bastide’s Sisley Spa
La Bastide’s spectacular Sisley Spa, inspired by the twelfth century Cistercian Abbey of Sénanque, is excited to launch a dedicated children’s spa menu for children aged between four and fourteen so everyone can enjoy a spot of pampering. Children’s spa treatments will use products from the French children’s skincare company, Ouate, which is designed specifically for young and delicate skin, using natural ingredients only. Ouate treatments include a facial using nourishing ingredients as well as playful textures, a relaxing massage using gentle pressure and long-flowing strokes, as well as soothing child-friendly manicures and pedicures (polish optional).
Children are welcome to join family members for a spot of calming rooftop yoga, taking place once a week on the rooftop of the Sisley Spa with unbeatable views of the Luberon valley. The 60-minute yoga class is tailored to the group and their abilities.
Evening Astrology Sessions
Enjoy an other-worldly stargazing session, guaranteed to delight guests of all ages. Due to its geographical location and lack of light pollution, the Luberon region is the perfect place to learn about the night sky. A local astronomer will be on hand to guide family groups through a magical astronomy masterclass from the garden of La Bastide, with guests learning all about the mystical constellations and planets.
Electric Bike and Vintage 2CV Picnic Adventures
Take to the road and enjoy a day of exploration choosing from La Bastide’s personalised e-bikes or vintage 2CV cars to discover the idyllic countryside and neighbouring villages of Roussillon, L’Isle sur la Sorgue, Lacoste and Rustrel. Enjoy fun family activities including kayaking from the enchanting village of Fontaine de Vaucluse along the river Sorgue, horse-riding in Joucas, and treetop rope climbing in a nearby forest close to Rustrel. La Bastide’s Concierge team can arrange a typical Provençal picnic to enjoy while out, including French delicacies such as local cheese, baguette and dessert pastries.
Hot Air Balloon Rides
For the ultimate holiday memory, discover the Luberon’s breath-taking scenery from the skies during a bucket list hot air balloon organised seamlessly through La Bastide’s concierge team. Wake up early with a picnic breakfast in your private transfer which will take you directly to your departure location, ready to watch the sunrise over the mountains from above. Upon landing, guests are greeted back on land with a glass of chilled champagne and a selection of canapés to enjoy.
Family-Friendly Open-Air Cinema
Back by popular demand, the Open-Air Cinema evenings taking place in the hotel’s fragrant gardens beside the main swimming pool, are a hit with the whole family. Sink into a comfy bean bag to enjoy a selection of international and French films (with subtitles). Popcorn will be provided for all.
Inside La Bastide’s Kingdom of Children
From the moment of arrival, children will enjoy their own adventurous challenge, beginning with their very own Airelles Le Petit Voyageur passport which is given to every child aged between 4-12 years upon check-in. The colourful passport will set out details of their fact-finding mission to uncover the hotel’s secrets and treasures, making notes and collecting stamps along the way. A delicious mocktail awaits them on completion of the mission, with an even bigger prize for those completing the passport across all of the Airelles properties.
La Bastide is home to a fun-filled Kingdom of Children, bursting with toys and games, including games consoles, table-football and a pool table. Outside, a children’s swimming pool and outdoor games such as ping-pong are available as well as the hotel’s legendary ice cream and sorbet cart. At La Bastide’s Kingdom of Children, regular activities include treasure hunts, French pastry baking workshops, art and crafts, and outdoor sports activities. In the evening, film screenings take place for children to enjoy a ‘kids-only’ Open Air Cinema while parents and grandparents can sneak off for a peaceful adults-only dinner. Other summer highlights include a weekly magic show as well as a visiting caricaturist to create fun drawings for families to take home.
A Private Family Villa – La Maison de Constance
For families seeking the privacy of a villa combined with access to hotel facilities, La Bastide’s La Maison de Constance is an ideal accommodation option for larger groups. The fully privatised five-bedroom villa is located in the hotel grounds, slightly set back from the main hotel, with its own pool and garden, and butler service available. Guests can choose from self-catering in their own kitchen and dining room, or booking a table at one of the hotel’s five restaurants.
La Bastide is also home to spacious suites and interconnecting room options for families wishing to stay inside of the hotel.
Family Friendly Olive Oil & Wine Tasting
Enjoy precious family bonding over some of the region’s most delicious wine and olive oil at sister property Château d’Estoublon, an hour’s drive from Gordes. The property is a slice of Provençal heaven, nestled on the southern slopes of the Alpilles mountains boasting scenery that has inspired many writers and painters over the years. A 200-hectare working estate since 1489, Château d’Estoublon produces its own organic award-winning wines and olive oil which hotel guests can discover through a guided tour of the estate, a personalised wine and olive oil tasting masterclass, and a delicious family-style lunch at La Table d’Estoublon restaurant, from the highly-acclaimed Dutch chef, Wim Van Gorp. During wine-tasting, children can feel included by enjoying delicious home-grown grape juice and some accompanying snacks! During their day out, families can also enjoy access to full use of all château facilities including the outdoor swimming pool and horse riding in the grounds.
La Bastide will close for the season on 31st October 2021. Rates start from €710 per night for a Classic Village Room. Price includes a gourmet breakfast buffet, access to the Kingdom of Children and its activities, poolside non-alcoholic refreshments and e-bike and vintage 2CV rental.
